Or want to know how to export your podcasts show from Google Podcasts to any other app? Click the link in this table of contents to skip to that section: ![]() Below, you’ll find the best podcast apps for iOS and Android as replacements for Google Podcasts. I have compiled the experiences and facts into one overview. Since the announcement, I have extensively searched for alternatives to Google Podcasts on Reddit, Tweakers (a Dutch website), and other communities. Especially Android users prefer a separate podcast app to keep the consumption of YouTube videos and podcasts separate.įortunately, there are many podcast apps on the market, for both Android and Apple iPhone users, that can serve as an alternative to the Google Podcasts app. ![]() However, many users are not enthusiastic about the YouTube Music app for listening to podcasts. The Google Podcasts alternative they offer is YouTube Music ( Android / iOS). After you get over the initial shock/frustration of having to change your ways, it really is not that big of a deal in the long run.Google recently announced that it will discontinue Google Podcasts in 2024. But I personally believe that the playlist method is a lot of needless work and can be daunting/confusing for newer users. And it can be tough to learn a new way to use an app for a while like it is a brand new experience. I think the biggest issue is, and I am not at all faulting anyone or saying they are wrong to feel this way, but people are so beholden to their tedious routine which they have cultivated over months and years of using this app that they idea of changing their workflow is overwhelming and seems like a ton of work. It might sound silly, but I feel much less stress and much more free by not having to worry about having multiple playlists to keep organized, feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of episodes I have in each playlist that I feel like I have to constantly chase catching up on, and I find myself actually listening to a wider variety of shows and enjoying myself more. Could you imagine a music player that didn’t allow playlists? This simple notion goes all the way back to the analog mixtape.Īnd which wonderful new features do playlists conflict with. Is it possible that you’re counting people who never use the app as people who don’t use playlists? Maybe I’m wrong, but it just seems to me that custom playlists is such an intuitive feature for heavy listeners of media. Somehow I think your metrics on this are off, though, when you consider the comments here and the many, many 1 star reviews in the playstore.
